Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) Where there is no vision the people perish……….
Vision is a dream or revelation. Vision is an idea or mental image of something. Vision is the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination and wisdom. Vision determines your future. Vision determines what you must do. Vision determines how you will spend your time and other resources. What is God’s vision for your life? What is God’s purpose for your life? The verse above makes it clear that where there is no vision the people perish. When people perish they are destroyed or end up living lives of failure. Better translations of the word translated perish in Proverbs 29:18 in the King James Bible above are unrestrained, or out of control as shown in the Bible versions below.
Proverbs 29:18 (AMP) Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained…….
Proverbs 29:18 (The Legacy Bible) Where there is no vision, the people are out of control……..
If you are unrestrained or out of control it means you lack discipline. We can then paraphrase Proverbs 29:18 as follows “Where there is no vision the people lack discipline……”
In the human body the vision for the heart is to pump blood and oxygen around the body and deliver waste products (carbon dioxide) back to the lungs to be removed. The heart functions as the heart and does not try to digest food like the stomach. What must you do? You must be disiciplined enough to focus on the vision, dream, revelation, purpose of God for your life. If you do not know your purpose in life, pray and fast and seek God’s guidance in order for you to know your purpose. If necessary see the pastor of the church you are planted in and he/she will assist you to know God’s purpose for your life.
